OIL & GAS: Economy Ministry Launches International Oil & Gas Exploration Tender of Croatian Adriatic Sea

On 2 April, the Croatian Hydrocarbons Agency (AZU) launched an international tender for the 1st offshore licensing round for the exploration and exploitation of oil and gas in the Croatian Adriatic Sea.  The U.K.-based IHS Global prepared the tender documentation and will assist in its implementation.   Bidding will close on 3 November 2014.  According to the tender time-line, licences are forecast to be granted by 3 December with exploration works to begin by 3 March 2015.

The tender was officially opened by Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak (HNS) at a conference held in Zagreb.  Representatives of some 40 petrochemical and gas companies were present at the conference, including ExxonMobile, Total, INA, RWE, Edison, Turkish Petroleum, Hellenic Petroleum, Petroceltic, Hunt Oil, Gazprom and JP Nippon.
