OIL & GAS: 7 Companies Bid for On-shore Hydrocarbons Exploration
Following the expiration of the bidding deadline on 18 February, the Ministry of Economy announced the receipt of bids from seven companies in the tender for on-shore hydrocarbons exploration and exploitation in the northern Drava river basin, Slavonia region (i.e. eastern Croatia) and the Sava river basin.
Economy Minister, Ivan Vrdoljak (HNS), did not disclose the name of the bidders but said they applied for all six exploration field on offer, proposing 19 different operating programmes. The offers were submitted by individual companies, rather than by consortia, while several offers were made for the same exploration fields, stated Vrdoljak. The minister added that similar tenders would be announced for the promising central Croatia and the Dinaric Mountains regions.
Croatian Hydrocarbon Agency (AZU) Director, Barbara Doric, said the names of the selected companies would be disclosed by early April, at the latest, after the bid evaluations are completed. The deadline for contract signing is 18 July 2015. Meanwhile, an environmental impact study is under preparation and its first draft is expected by mid-March, said Doric.
Regarding the offshore hydrocarbons exploration, the Ministry of Economy said last week they had received over 2,600 formal complaints and suggestions vis a vis the corresponding environmental study during the one-month public debate that ended on 16 February.
