Industrial Property Legislation Package

The government introduced amendments to five different acts sponsored by State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO). The amendments affect the following acts: Patent Act, Trademark Act, Industrial Design Act, Semiconductor Products Topographies Protection Act and Geographical Indications and Designations of Product Origin Act. In all five acts, government amended the appeal procedure and abolished the SIPO Appeal Board, which processed appeals, based on SIPO decisions in the field of industrial property.
By abolishing the appeal actions and the Appeal Board, the government introduced a shortened procedure for the recognition of patents and other industrial property rights.
