HYDROPOWER: HEP Seeks 30-year Strategic Partner for Kosinj/Senj Hydro Power Plant Project

On 20 August, the state-owned electric company, Croatia Electra (HEP), published a notification of request for expressions of interest from potential strategic partners for the Kosinj/Senj hydro power plant (HPP) project, worth approximately €500 million.

Investors interested in participating in the development, design, engineering, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the project are invited to submit their expressions of interest by 18 December.  Based on a Design-Build-Operate-Transfer (DBOT) model, the strategic partnership opportunity for the Kosinj/Senj HPP is offered for a period of up to 30 years.

The project will be realised in two phases.  In the first phase, HEP and the future partner will establish a joint venture company, which will conduct a feasibility study and apply for all the necessary permits.  Throughout the second phase, the joint venture will carry out construction, operation and maintenance of the project.
