HAKOM Radio Equipment Ordinance

Dražen Lučić, HAKOMLPJ Issue 175, 4 April 2016

In conjunction with HAKOM, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure issued a public call for Radio Equipment Ordinance. It aligns the Croatian legislation with current EU Directives. The Ordinance only applies to radio/wireless equipment and does not apply to telecommunications terminal equipment in the fixed network, such as analogue phones, XDSL terminals, cable and PC modems.

The legislation prescribes that radio equipment must be constructed in a way that supports the efficient use of the radio spectrum, in order to avoid harmful interference, clearly defining the obligations for manufacturers, authorized representatives, importers and distributors.

The ordinance also requires cell phones and other portable devices to be compatible with a unique battery charger. The public call is opened until 29 April.
