HAKOM: Opens Bid for Remaining RF Spectrum
The HAKOM opened the sole bid submitted by VIPnet Ltd for the remaining RF spectrum in the frequency band for mobile communications networks. This band includes a total of 15.6 MHz of unallocated frequencies.
Two frequency blocks were offered at the auction, one at 2×3 MHz (block A) and one at 2×4,8 MHz (block B), for the provision of communications services on the basis of technological neutrality, meaning that operators are free to use any existing technology permitted for mobile communication from GSM to LTE. VIPnet offered €7.3 million for frequency block A, and €11.4 million for frequency block B.
The HAKOM is expected to adopt its final decision on the granting of licences, following an analysis and verification of bid documentation, in the second half of November.
