GOVERNMENT: Minimum Wage Regulation
The government amended the minimum wage regulation in 2016, which will amount to €408 gross per month, an increase of €12 from 2015.
The nearly 3% rise also increases the share of minimum wage in the average gross salary paid from January to September 2015 to 38.8%. In determining the proposal for minimum wage in 2016, the government took into account the fact that economic trends improved in the last two quarters of 2015.
The government consulted social partners (i.e. unions) in determining the new minimum wage, but no agreement was reached.
