Tomislav Panenic, Minister of Economy (MOST)LPJ Issue 174, 29 March 2016

The government decision on gas prices stipulates that the producer of natural gas is obliged to sell gas produced in Croatia to retail suppliers at the wholesale market price.

The decision also obliges the retail supplier to sell gas at the said price rate to suppliers in the public service that sell gas to regular households.

The decision mostly affects INA, as a gas producer, and Croatia Electra (HEP), as the gas retail supplier, covering the period from April 1, 2016 to March 31, 2017. The result of the decision will be an 18% drop of household gas prices.

The decision is justified by the fall of wholesale gas prices throughout Europe.
