FOREIGN AFFAIRS: President Josipovic Leads Croatian Business Delegation to Turkmenistan

From 29 to 30 April, Croatian President Ivo Josipovic was on an official visit to Turkmenistan. Josipovic was accompanied by Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic (SDP), Deputy Foreign and European Affairs Minister Josko Klisovic, and a business delegation comprising 17 Croatian companies, led by Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) President Luka Burilovic (HDZ). The business delegation included representatives of the state-owned Croatian Motorways (HAC) and Rijeka-Zagreb Motorway (ARZ), the shipyards Uljanik and Tehnomont, metal manufacturer and engineering company Djuro Djakovic, electrical, transport and energy company Koncar Group, construction companies Gredelj and Viadukt, consultant company Horwath Consulting, et al.
On 29 April, Josipovic met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. The latter expressed confidence the visit would strengthen inter-state cooperation, friendship and mutual understanding between the two countries. Josipovic stated that Croatia was interested in increasing economic and cultural relations with Turkmenistan. During the talks, the sides discussed prospects of cooperating in areas such as energy, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, transport, pharmaceuticals, tourism, education, etc. In addition, Berdimuhamedow invited Croatian government officials to take part in the forum on energy diversification to be held in Turkmenistan in September 2014.
