EU FUNDS: Government Submits Operational Programmes to European Commission
On 22 July, the Croatian government submitted the country’s final drafts of the two operational programmes (OPs) for the financing period 2014-2020 to the European Commission (EC) for evaluation. The programmes are ‘Competition and Cohesion’ and ‘Efficient Human Resources’. The OPs are a prerequisite for Croatia to gain access to €8.463 billion in European Cohesion and Investment (ESI) Funds over the EU 2014-2020 multiannual financial framework.
The government already submitted the Partnership Agreement (PA) to the EC for review in April. The document outlines Croatia’s strategy and justification for the use of ESI Funds. The OPs cannot be approved by the Commission until they also accept the PA. The total amount of EU money earmarked for Croatia in the 2014-2020 period is €10.4 billion.
Under the OP Competition and Cohesion, the co-financing will be provided from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and EU Cohesion Fund. The managing authority is the Ministry of Regional Development and EU Funds…
