EIB Co-Financing €250 Million Dubrovnik Airport Expansion Project

On 5 October, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced they had signed loan agreements amounting to €17.5 million for the expansion and upgrade of the Dubrovnik Airport (ZLD). The EIB said that a total of €7 million was approved as a direct loan, while €10.5 million was an intermediated loan through the Croatian Bank for Reconstruction and Development (HBOR). This represents the first tranche of the total approved loan amounting to €32.5 million to finance the Dubrovnik Airport Development project.

The Dubrovnik Airport (ZLD) is located near the town of Cilipi, some 15 kilometres south of Dubrovnik. The European Airport Council voted the airport as the second best in Europe under 5 million passenger capacity. In 2014, the airport posted a 4.1% increase in passenger numbers (1.58 million); in August, the airport recorded its highest passenger numbers of 335,586 – up 5.8% compared to August 2014…
