ECONOMIC DIPLOMACY: HGK to Open Washington, D.C. Office
After 20 years, the Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) decided to send a request to the government to open a HGK office in Washington D.C. It also decided to close its offices in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Kotor, Belgrade, Pristina and Afghanistan.
HGK President Nadan Vidosevic said that, economically speaking, HGK chambers were successful at integrating the areas of the former Yugoslavia, visas have been abolished and the investment activities of Croatian companies have been boosted. Therefore, the HGK’s episode in these markets is finished.
Vidosevic added that the United States is the main strategic political partner with whom Croatia has no economic relations, which is the main reason why the HGK wants to enter the U.S. market. This strategic decision comes after the recent Croatian business delegation to the U.S. and Canada, led by Economy Minister Ivan Vrdoljak (HNS) and Entrepreneurship Minister Gordan Maras (SDP)…
