Croatian Competition Agency Opens Debate on Infringements of Market Competition Damages Act

The Croatian Competition Agency (AZTN) was the head of a working group, established by the Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Crafts, to draft legislation on damages, due to market competition infringements, in order to harmonise the Croatian legislative framework with the EU Directive 2014/104 on Damages Actions for Antitrust Infringements. The Directive establishes rules to enable anyone affected by damages caused by the infringement of competition law by undertakings, to claim full compensation. The Directive also lays down the rules for coordinating the implementation of competition rules by competition authorities, in damages proceedings before national courts. The deadline for EU Member States to transpose the Directive into their legislative systems is 27 December 2016. The public consultation is open until 8 December 2016…
