AVIATION: Transport Minister Doncic Meets Representatives of French Consortium ZAIC

On Wednesday, Transport Minister Sinisa Hajdas Doncic (SDP) met with representatives of the French-Croatian consortium ZAIC, which consists of the construction company Bouygues Batiment International (BBI), Paris airports operator Aeroports de Paris and Croatian contractor Viadukt. Last year, ZAIC signed a concession agreement valued at €365 million with the Croatian government, according to which the consortium is suppose to assume control of the management of the Zagreb Airport (ZLZ).

BBI CEO Christophe Petit said ZAIC has secured the necessary funds for the construction of a new terminal at ZLZ. Minister Doncic underlined that construction permits will be issued by the end of August, and construction works will commence in the beginning of October. If the French concessionaire fails to comply with this deadline, the government will activate the warranty in the amount of €900,000, he cautioned; this uncharacteristic stern tone is a reflection of the highly tense project negotiations between the Croatian side and the French team led by Petite…
